<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display that prevents an increase in the manufacturing processes and the manufacturing cost thereof and also has excellent display quality. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display includes a first substrate, a second substrate, a plurality of electrodes, a plurality of reflection layers 15, an alignment layer 19, another alignment layer 21, a liquid crystal layer 3 having a plurality of first liquid crystal layers 31 and a plurality of second liquid crystal layers 32, polarizing plates 5a, 6a, a quarter-wave plate 6b, and a backlight. Each first liquid crystal layer 31 forms homogeneous alignment composed of uniform alignment. In each second liquid crystal layer, liquid crystal molecules are aligned in twisted alignment and a phase of incident light is shifted by approximately 1/4 wavelength in 550 nm wavelength. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
