<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical compensation film contributing the improvement of a gradation property of a VA mode liquid crystal display device and to provide the VA mode liquid crystal display device having excellent and balanced display characteristics in all of a visual field characteristic, contrast and the gradation property. <P>SOLUTION: In the optical compensation film for the VA mode liquid crystal display device, in-plane retardation Re (550) at 550 nm wavelength is 20 to 100 nm and thickness direction retardation Rth (550) at 550 nm wavelength is 60 to 120 nm. The VA mode liquid crystal display device includes a pair of polarizers (14a, 14b), a liquid crystal cell (LC) arranged between the pair of polarizers and optical compensation films (18a, 18b) respectively arranged between respective polarizers and the liquid crystal cell. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
