<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cool an exhaust system effectively when an engine is heavily loaded, by using a thermoacoustic phenomenon without considerably enriching an air-fuel ratio or the like. <P>SOLUTION: Engine exhaust equipment is provided with an engine cooling means, an exhaust cooling device having an exhaust cooling section disposed upstream in the exhaust system of the engine to cool the exhaust system using an exhaust system cooling refrigerant, a thermoacoustic device, and a control unit. The thermoacoustic device has a first energy conversion section which uses exhaust gas as a high-temperature heating medium and an engine cooling refrigerant as a low-temperature heating medium to convert the energy of the exhaust gas into sonic wave energy, and a second energy conversion section which uses the engine cooling refrigerant as the high-temperature heating medium and the exhaust system cooling refrigerant led from the exhaust cooling device as the low-temperature heating medium to convert the sonic wave energy into thermal energy. The control unit causes the exhaust cooling device to, at the time of heavy load, operate in a state in which the exhaust system cooling refrigerant is circulated between the exhaust cooling section and the second energy conversion section. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
