PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bypass road guidance system which makes it free to run along a main-line road and a bypass road, avoiding a jam. SOLUTION: This system makes it possible for a driver to check a state of the jam of the main-line road M and the bypass road P before entering a fork X of the main-line road M and the bypass road P, to judge which route enables avoidance of the jam, to enable avoidance of a jammed section and smooth running and to arrive promptly at a destination Y. Particularly, a road sign plate 100 indicating the presence of the bypass road P and installed along the main-line road M before the fork X of the bypass road P is imaged by an imaging part 89 and an approach to the fork X of the bypass road P is detected from an output of the imaging part 89 and the current running location known by navigation. Therefore information on the bypass road P can be detected exactly even in the case when an expressway and a general road are constructed in three dimensions, for instance.
