PURPOSE: A billet for an aluminum cylinder liner and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to increase the productivity by making procedures consecutively till a semi-product from the molten metal. CONSTITUTION: A billet for an aluminum cylinder comprises 81~72wt% Al, 16~21wt% Si, 2~5wt% Cu, 0.2~1wt% Mg and 50~300ppm P. A manufacturing method of the billet for an aluminum cylinder liner is as follows. It is injected into a tundish that 81~72wt% Al, 16~21wt% Si, 2~5wt% Cu, 0.2~1wt% Mg, 50~300ppm P. A slab is manufactured by drawing the molten alloy to under a mold from the tundish inside. The temperature and casting velocity of the tundish inside is controlled at 750~800°C and 90~100mm/min. |
