PURPOSE: A surgical stapler is provided to bend a staple smoothly by coupling an anvil and a former firmly. CONSTITUTION: A surgical stapler includes a frame(127), a trigger(141), a cartridge(114), an anvil(119), and a former(122). The trigger is elastically supported in the frame. A staple transfer bar is arranged inside the cartridge and transfers the staple assembly. The anvil includes a pair of protrusions, a guide protrusion, a staple bending protrusion, and a detachable spring. The pair of protrusions are inserted into the cartridge. The guide protrusion guides the former in a staple bending process. The staple bending protrusion bends the staple. The detachable spring is fixed in the anvil.
