The ventilation device 5 comprises a housing having at least one opening 6 for interfacing with a patient's airway, at least one valve 2 arranged to permit outflow of respiratory gases/air from the airway to ambient, means 2 for opening and closing for inflow of respiratory gases/air to the airway, and a control device for controlling the opening/closing for inflow. The device 5 can be arranged to permit inflow of air with predetermined time intervals. The device 5 can be arranged to close for inflow of air until a pre-determined pressure threshold is reached. The device 5 can be used in CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and can be used mouth to mouth or with a manually operated bag. |
