PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simply obtain a multi substituted triene and a multi substituted naphthalene. SOLUTION: The triene derivative (I) or the naphthalene derivative (IVa) or (IVb) is produced by reacting a metallacyclopentane (II) or metallaindene (IIa) and an alkene (III) in the presence of a zinc salt and a palladium catalyst. In the formulas, R1, R2, R3, R4 and A are each H, a hydrocarbon group, an alkoxy group or the like which may have a cross linking; R5, R6, R7 and R8 are each H or a hydrocarbon group; M is a lanthanide metal belonging to third group to fifth group of the periodic system; L1 and L2 are each an anionic ligand; and (n) is an integer of 1-3. |
