PURPOSE: A composite retardation plate and a method of manufacturing the same are provided to obtain a thin composite retardation plate by using a retardation plate from polymerization of a liquid crystalline compound. CONSTITUTION: A composite retardation plate includes retardation plate(11,12). The composite retardation plate is obtained by polymerizing a liquid crystalline compound with a polymerizer. The retardation plate contains an organic clay complex and a binder resin, and the retardation plate is obtained by polymerizing one kind of liquid crystal monomer and two kinds of liquid crystal monomer.
