POLYBENZIMIDAZOLE-POLYETHERKETONEKETONE BLENDS AND MISCIBLE BLENDS

Claimed is a process for producing a melt blend of a polybenzimidazole (PBI) and a polyetherketoneketone (PEKK) which comprises the steps of:
pre-dry-mixing a PBI with a PEKK to obtain a dry mix; feeding said dry mix to an extruder with a plurality of heating zones; setting said heating zones in a temperature range of 240°C to 410°C; melting said dry mix blend as it passes through said extruder; and obtaining said melt blend of PBI/PEKK in all proportion within a range from 1/99 PBI/PEKK to 80/20 PBI/PEKK.
