PURPOSE: A backlight unit and a backlight driving method of a liquid crystal display device capable of controlling the luminance are provided to correspond to quick response for showing moving picture of the liquid crystal display. CONSTITUTION: A backlight unit includes a reflector, a lamp, and an optical sheet. A plurality of lamps(124) is arranged on a reflective plate and divided as divided into a first, a second, and a third blocks. A plurality of optical sheets is located on the lamps. The lamps of first and the third block are electrically connected with a first voltage line(165). The lamps of the second block is electrically connected with a second voltage line(167). |
