PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display device and an electronic device capable of displaying the image of high quality are provided to equip the display device capable of the image of high quality by controlling the thickness of accurate liquid crystal layer. CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal display includes a first substrate(10), a second substrate(20), a liquid crystal layer, a phase difference layer(42), a protective layer, and a spacer. The first substrate and the second substrate are arranged by facing with each other. The liquid crystal layer is pinched between the first substrate and the second substrate. The phase difference layer is formed to side the liquid crystal layer of the second substrate. The protective layer covers the side faced with the first substrate of the phase difference layer and the phase difference layer in which it continues with the side. The protective layer contacts with the foundation plane in which it becomes as the basis of the phase difference layer. |
