THE CORRECTION TECHNIQUE OF WEATHER RADAR REFLECTIVITY

PURPOSE: A method for correcting reflectivity of weather radar is provided to improve accuracy about short time precipitation forecast by quantitatively forecasting localized heavy rain. CONSTITUTION: A method for correcting reflectivity of weather radar comprises the following steps: a step for collecting data after observing radar reflectivity and POSS(Precipitation Occurrence Sensor System) reflectivity; a step for sorting the radar reflectivity and the POSS reflectivity according to sizes; a step for calculating a moving average of the radar reflectivity and the POSS reflectivity with one hour cycle; a step for correcting the reflectivity; a step for measuring the corrected reflectivity; and a step for estimating precipitation using the measured reflectivity.
