PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simply adjust end faces of steel tubes even when the sectional shape of the steel tube to be welded is flattened in the butt welding of the steel tubes, and to make it unnecessary to prepare a plurality of butting tools even when the diameters of the steel tubes are different from each other. SOLUTION: This invention relates to the steel tube butting tool, wherein a plurality of units 1 are connected to each other in series and attachable/detachable in a movable manner, and fitted so as to surround the circumference of the steel tube across a butted portion of two steel tubes. Each unit 1 comprises a pair of unit plates 2 opposite to each other, a base plate 3 for connecting these unit plates, two or more pressing bolts 4 to be screwed to the base plate, and a coupling pin 5 for coupling the unit plates with each other. At least one pressing bolt presses the outer circumferential surface of one steel tube, and at least the other pressing bolt presses the outer circumferential surface of the other steel tube.
