PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an actuation method of leukocyte removal apparatuses capable of re-transfusing hemocyte containing liquid without causing an increase in the concentration of mediator. SOLUTION: The leukocyte removal apparatus is connected with a blood collection circuit 1, a leukocyte removal filter 6 and a retransfusion circuit 2 in this order, wherein the blood collection circuit is connected with an anticoagulant feed means 9 via a first branch circuit 3 and disposed with a liquid sending pump 5, and a physiological solution feed means 8 is connected to the blood collection circuit via a second branch circuit 4. This actuation method of the leukocyte removal apparatus includes a step (1) where the liquid sensing pump feeds the hemocyte containing liquid to the leukocyte removal filter, a step (2) where the liquid to be fed to the leukocyte removal filter is changed over from the hemocyte containing liquid to the physiological solution, with the liquid sending pump actuated, and a step (3) where the liquid sending pump feeds the physiological solution to the leukocyte removal filter, wherein the steps (2) and (3) are consecutively executed and during the steps (2) and (3), the liquid sending pump does not stop and feeds the hemocyte containing liquid or the physiological solution to the leukocyte removal filter.
