<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a honeycomb structure usable for a soot trapping device, wherein an increase of non-permissible pressure drop and the overheat and dissolved loss of the soot trapping device itself are hardly caused without using a high-degree regeneration control device. <P>SOLUTION: The honeycomb structure has a plurality of cells as fluid flow paths partitioned with porous partition walls. One end of the predetermined cell is eye-sealed by a sealing part formed of a sealing material filled in the cell, and the other end of each of the remaining cells on the opposite side to that of the predetermined cell is similarly eye-sealed by a sealing part. The partition walls each have a porosity of 65% or more and an average fine pore diameter of 60 μm or larger, where a plurality of pin holes having an average diameter value of 100-500 μm are formed with a density of 10-100 pieces/cm<SP>2</SP>. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
