<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control method of a coating apparatus capable of preventing the deposit amount of a coating from becoming abnormal as much as possible, and to provide a coating system. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the coating system 101, a treatment liquid 19 is successively applied to a traveling metal plate 18 by a roll coating apparatus 1. In a storage device 102, metal plate conditions set for the metal plate 18 and coating conditions of the roll coating apparatus 1 are associated with each other and stored. In a deposit amount detector 103, the deposit amount of the coating is detected which is formed on a surface of the metal plate 18 after heat treatment. When controlling the roll coating apparatus 1, a controller 10 (a) obtains the coating conditions from the storage device 102 on the basis of the metal plate conditions set for the metal plate of the upper stream side in a traveling direction X than a condition change point when the condition change point where the metal plate conditions set for the metal plate 18 changes passes through a coating position, and sets the obtained coating conditions, and (b) corrects the coating conditions on the basis of a detected result by the deposit amount detector 103.
