PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feeding device capable of feeding paper sheets smoothly without causing no-feed even the sheets are curved and thick. SOLUTION: As a guide member provided in a carrying path where the paper sheets are carried toward a separating means, the guide member having a tilted guide surface is used. The guide member is composed such that the uppermost-stream point of the tilted guide surface is positioned upstream of a separating point of the separating means and the downmost-stream point of the guide surface is positioned downstream of the separating point.
