PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus which does not include a real time management function but is capable of performing the suitable display or the like of a group of image data stored by an image processing apparatus that does not include a real date/time management function, and a group of image data stored by an image processing apparatus that includes a real date/time management function. SOLUTION: In the data processing apparatus comprising a storage medium reader/writer capable of reading/writing data from/to a storage medium, and a latest date/time information holder for holding latest date/time information, the data processing apparatus further includes: a means for reading first date/time information from a group of data stored in the storage medium in a first data form including date/time information, a means for storing the latest date/time in the read first date/time information in the latest date/time information holder as the latest date/time information; and a second date/time information adding means for adding second date/time information created based on the latest date/time information held in the latest date/time information holder to image data when writing the image data to the storage medium.
