PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving support device safely and temporarily stopping a driving support system by exactly detecting a spray of water in a situation where the spray of water repeatedly occurs, and to provide a driving support system. SOLUTION: The driving support device 1 includes: an object location detecting means 9 for detecting location information including information of a real spatial distance Z of an object existing around; a preceding vehicle candidate detecting means 12 for detecting the preceding vehicle candidate Q existing in front on the basis of the information of the distance Z; and a determining means 13 for respectively adding scores when no information of the location of the preceding vehicle candidate Q detected at the current sampling period within a real spatial range estimated by information of the preceding vehicle candidate Qold detected at the past sampling period and when a variationΔW of the real spatial width W of the preceding vehicle candidate Q is equal to or more than a preset thresholdΔWth, and determines that a spray Sp of water repeatedly occurs when the scores reach the a prescribed value.
