<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a storage water heater high in safety even when a temperature detecting means breaks down. <P>SOLUTION: This storage water heater includes a hot water storage tank 1 for storing hot water, a heating means 2 for heating water inside the hot water storage tank 1, a water supply pipe 31 for supplying water to a lower part of the hot water storage tank 1, a hot water discharge pipe 33 for discharging high temperature hot water from an upper part of the hot water storage tank 1, a bypass water supply pipe 32 branching from the water supply pipe 31, a hot/cold water mixing valve 4 connecting the hot water discharge pipe 33 to the bypass water supply pipe 32, a hot water supply pipe 8 connected to a supply terminal 35 at the downstream side of the hot water/water mixing valve 4, and a first temperature detecting means 9 and a second temperature detecting means 40 for detecting the temperature of hot water generated by the hot water/water mixing valve 4.
