<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical amplification device that monitors an accurate input light level without being affected by a dark current even when input light is weak. <P>SOLUTION: The optical amplification device includes: a multiplexing section 11 which multiplexes input light 51 and probe light 52, an optical amplifier 12 which amplifies multiplexed light 53 generated by the multiplexing section 11; an optical demultiplexer 21 which branches the multiplexed light 54 amplified by the optical amplifier 12 and also separates the probe light from part of the branched multiplexed light; a gain calculating circuit 15 which calculates the gain of the optical amplifier 12 based upon the level of the probe light before being multiplexed by the multiplexing section 11 and the level of the probe light separated by the optical demultiplexer 21; and an input light level calculating circuit 17 which calculates the level of the input light 51 before being multiplexed by the multiplexing section 11 based upon the levels of the multiplexed light 58 branched by the optical multiplexer 21 and the separated probe light, and the gain of the optical amplifier 12 calculated by the gain calculating circuit 15. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
