<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly discriminate the displacement of persons in grouped similar images. Ž<P>SOLUTION: When a prescribed image data is selected from among a plurality of image data, a group configured of a plurality of similar image data is acquired. In a thumb nail image obtained by reducing an image shown by each image data belonging to the same group, the number of the faces and the positions and colors of the face organs included in the thumb nail are acquired. In two thumb nail images belonging to the same group, when the number of the faces is different, the images are selected. Also, when the number of the faces is the same, the positions and colors of the face organs are compared to discriminate the displacement of persons, and when the persons are displaced, the images are selected.
