<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medium mounting device that is thin when a disk is not mounted and that has a necessary thickness for holding the disk when the disk is mounted, and to provide a disk device thereof. Ž<P>SOLUTION: With the movement of a claw 5 by the disk 9 to be mounted, a movable hub 4 is moved to the direction opposite to the direction in which the disk 9 is mounted. When the disk 9 is completely mounted, the claw 5 is held at a position further separated from a disk mounting surface as compared with the position when the disk 9 is not mounted.
