<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hair dryer that increases the quantity of ions reaching hair and keeps the hair moist by forcibly lowering the temperature of ions generated by an ion generator, keeping the thermal motion energy low and suppressing the dissipation of the ions. Ž<P>SOLUTION: Inside a body case 1, an air blowing fan 15 and a heater unit 17 are disposed. A cooling device is provided that cools the ions formed in the ion generator. The air blowing fan 15 and the heater unit 17 are disposed in a ventilation passage 18 provided in the body case 1. A heat absorbing portion 51A of a thermoelectric conversion part 51 constituting the cooling device is disposed facing the ventilation passage 18, with a discharge part 33 of the ion generator arranged close to the heat absorbing portion 51A of the thermoelectric conversion part 51.
