摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air-fuel ratio control method capable of stably keeping an amount of NO<SB>x</SB>emission low. Ž<P>SOLUTION: Sensor output OX2AD is controlled by setting a value, within a range of a top shelf near a theoretical air-fuel ratio with a small output-variation amount, higher than a range in which the output variation amount gets large and lower than a high saturation value, as a target value OX2AD<SP>*</SP>. When the sensor output OX2AD shifts to the lean side, it is controlled by changing the target value OX2AD<SP>*</SP>to a value of a state immediately before shifting to the lean side.
