In accordance with the present invention, an ultrasound device is provided for diagnosing pathologies in a tissue of interest. The ultrasound device includes a platform member and an array of at least two ultrasonic elements coupled to the platform member. Each of the at least two elements includes a body portion and a piezoelectric crystal member. The piezoelectric crystal member has a first axis and a second axis. A first mover is provided that is capable of moving the piezoelectric crystal member about a first axis of the crystal. A second mover is provided that is capable of moving the piezoelectric crystal about a second axis of the crystal. A controller is provided for causing the first mover and second mover to move the piezoelectric crystal about the respective first and second axes for enabling the ultrasound device to capture a plurality of images at different positions of rotation about the first and second axes.
