PURPOSE: An internal combustion engine is provided to lower the pressure level inside a back up chamber by reducing static pressure in the center of vertex within the back up chamber. CONSTITUTION: An internal combustion engine comprises an opening(5) which extends in the tangential direction of a back up chamber(4) in order to connect a main combustion chamber(2) to the back up chamber so that a lean combustion gas-air mixture flowed from the main combustion chamber into the back up chamber forms vertex within the back up chamber. The back up chamber is sub-divided into a first chamber(8) and a second chamber(9) which are connected through a central pipe section(10). A combustion gas nozzle(7) and an igniter(6) connect or protrude into the first and/or the second chamber of the back up chamber. The opening connects the main combustion chamber to the second chamber of the back up chamber. |
