<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for manufacturing an organic EL element which can easily carry out patterning of an organic function layer as well as obtaining uniformity in the film thickness. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The manufacturing method for the organic EL element which is a laminated body with a light emitting layer containing an organic compound includes: an application process (S-11) for carrying out pattern application of the ink containing organic material which is to become an organic function layer to a flat plate printing surface by an inkjet apparatus; a viscosity adjustment process (S-12) for adjusting the viscosity of the ink by removing the solvent in the ink applied on the flat plate printing surface; a first transfer process (S-13) for transferring the ink which has its viscosity adjusted on the flat plate printing surface to a transfer body; and a second transfer process (S-14) for transferring the ink transferred to the transfer body to a substrate.
