<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for using menstrual blood collectable at home by herself as a specimen for the PCR amplification of a DNA of Chlamydia trachomatis causing a worldwide problem as the pathogen of a sexually transmitted disease. Ž<P>SOLUTION: Provided is a method for detecting a Chlamydia DNA by PCR amplification using menstrual blood as a test specimen. Menstrual blood absorbed in a PVA sponge chip absorbent is used as a starting specimen. The menstrual blood absorbed PVA sponge chip absorbent is put into a vessel, sterilized physiological saline water is poured into the vessel and stirred. After the sponge chip absorbent is squeezed to obtain a liquid sample, a DNA sample is extracted from the liquid, and the DNA sample is subjected to PCR.
