<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a receiving device for recording media capable of easily varying an operation mode during the transportation or at the discharging of the recording media, and to provide a printer equipped with the receiving device. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The receiving device has a sheet member 440 having flexibility and a plurality of hook members 410, 420, 430 capable of being arranged at optional positions and locking an end of the sheet member, and varies an operation mode by changing an arrangement form of the hook members, a locking form of the sheet member and a form of the sheet member itself. By this, a desired receiving section for the recording media can be formed by arranging the sheet member at a desired position, putting the end of the sheet member on the desired hook members and folding, bending or extending the sheet member so that, for instance, the transportation work and takeout work of the recoding media of a predetermined size can be easily performed.
