PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a letterpress which can allow a hollowed point, which is printed by a hollowed part of the letterpress, to be reproduced precisely and which can perform high resolution printing and to provide a method for producing the letterpress and a printing apparatus for cans, in which the letterpress is used. SOLUTION: The letterpress 30 is used in the printing apparatus for cans, which is provided with; a plate drum having a cylindrical surface; and a blanket which is contacted with the plate drum and to which ink is transferred, and is arranged on the outer peripheral surface of the plate drum. In such a state that the letterpress is arranged on the outer peripheral surface of the plate drum, a flat part 31 is formed in the outermost position in the radial direction and the hollowed part 32 is formed to be recessed toward the inside from the flat part 31 in the radial direction. The hollowed part 32 has a bottom part 33 and a sidewall part 34 erected from the bottom part 33. A relief part 35, which slopes gradually toward the inside in the radial direction as it goes from the flat part 31 side to the hollowed part 32 side, is formed between the flat part 31 and the side wall part 34 of the hollowed part 32.
