<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device having excellent working efficiency and can reduce generate noise at low cost in a machining method using a water jet. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In this method, an injection sound is reduced by covering the outer periphery of a waterjet stream jetted to a member to be machined by a water curtain. The water curtain is a multi-layered curtain formed of two or more layers. The water curtain is so tilted relative to the waterjet stream as to be divergent downward.
