<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electron source and a manufacturing method of the electron source, wherein simplification of the manufacture and life prolongation are achieved. <P>SOLUTION: In the electron source 1, since a metal wire 2 that is a first metal to which a second metal is added is used and the second metal wire 2 is heat-treated to deposit the second metal on a tip 2a of the metal wire 2 so that a needle part 3 is formed, the needle part 3 can be formed newly by heat-treating again and depositing the second metal. Accordingly, in the electron source 1, if the needle part 3 is abraded and damaged by its long-term use, the needle part 3 can be reproduced only by heat-treating.
