The material has integrated, electrically heatable conductors (12-1, 12-2, 14-1, 14-2) used as a heat conductor and as a sensor element. The sensor element forms an electrode of a capacitor and a base area and/or another electrode of the capacitor under and/or before a seat device for detecting an electrical capacitance measurable between the electrodes. Conductor surfaces formed by the conductor in the flexible planar material are together usable as counter poles of the capacitor electrode for detecting the electrical capacitance measurable between the conductor surfaces. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a seat device with a sitting surface cushioned with a cushion material and a backrest (2) a method for operating a flexible planar material.
