<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a back light unit for diffusing light from light sources so that uniform surface-emitting light is obtained even when light diffusers are deformed by heat from the light sources. <P>SOLUTION: The back light unit 1 includes a housing 10 having an opening 10a, a light diffuser 20 provided to block the opening 10a of the housing 10, light sources 30 housed in the housing 10, and light source fixing members 40 suspended from a surface 20a of the light diffuser 20 facing to the housing 10 and respectively having a light source 30 on its distal end.
