<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: an optical detecting circuit and an optical detector which control an afterpulse of an APD afterward and detect photons in high repetitive cycles; a device and a system using the same; and a control method for a bias power source. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The optical detecting circuit includes the APD 101, a DC bias power circuit 107 which outputs a DC supply voltage VB1, a gate pulse driver circuit 106 which generates a gate pulse GP1, a superposing circuit 181 which superposes the gate pulse GP1 on the DC supply voltage, an afterpulse control circuit 104 which generates an afterpulse suppression signal AC1 lowering a bias voltage applied to the APD 1 for a predetermined time, and a superposing circuit 182 which superposes the afterpulse suppression signal AC1 on a DC supply voltage VB2. In the APD 1, a DC supply voltage VB3 generated by superposing the gate pulse GP1 and afterpulse suppression signal AC1 one over the other is applied to one electrode and an optical detection signal S2 is output from the other electrode.
