<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a waste treatment apparatus capable of preventing the degradation of the filter body of a dust remover when stopping the operation of the waste treatment apparatus and removing tar or the like attached to the filter body, and its operation stop method. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the operation stop method of the waste treatment apparatus for generating an inflammable gas from waste in a partial oxidation furnace 1, introducing the generated inflammable gas to the dust remover 2, removing dust or the like in the inflammable gas and burning it further, a filter body attached matter removal process of removing the attached matter of the filter body by turning the inside of the dust remover 2 to an oxidative atmosphere is included.
