<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of damage detection of a membrane module by which the detection precision of membrane damage and the safety of filtrate water are improved, and an operator can easily comprehend situations. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A controller 8 executes the first determination of comparing the measured value of a damage detection sensor 6 with a preset first determination value, makes a display means 9 display an alarm when determining that it is an alarm level in the first determination, closes an inflow valve 3 when determining that the damage is a raw water shut-off level in the second determination by a second determination value larger than the first determination value, and displays the damage at the display means 9.
