摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the magnetic transfer method of a perpendicular magnetic recording medium, by which transfer recording to a medium of high coercive force can be performed with signal writing accuracy equal to that of a transfer pattern carried by a master carrier. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In a state that the master carrier carrying transfer information and a perpendicular magnetic recording medium are made to closely adhere to each other, an in-plane magnetic field parallel to the plane of the master carrier and a first perpendicular magnetic field perpendicular to the plane are simultaneously applied (S114) and then a second perpendicular magnetic field reverse to the first perpendicular magnetic field and the in-plane magnetic field are simultaneously applied (S116) to record the signal pattern of transfer information in the perpendicular magnetic recording medium. Magnetic field components in the perpendicular directions generated on the surface of the master carrier by respective perpendicular magnetic fields have intensities lower than coercive force of the perpendicular magnetic recording medium so that the first and the second perpendicular magnetic fields do not reverse recording magnetization of the perpendicular magnetic recording medium by only themselves.
