The invention relates to a catalyst for the dehydroaromatisation of C1-C4-aliphates, that can be obtained by the double treatment of a zeolith from the groups MFI and MWW with mixtures containing NH4, respectively with subsequent drying and calcining. The catalyst contains molybdenum and optionally, Cu, Ni, Fe, Co, Mn, Cr, Nb, Ta, Zr, V, Zn and/or Ga as additional elements. The invention also relates to a method for the dehydroaromatisation of a mixture containing C1-C4-aliphates by reacting in the presence of a catalyst.
