<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain a plate member transporting box for a glass substrate and the like in which a foamed resin pad can be easily molded even if the size of a foamed resin pad 30 is increased and the foamed resin pad can be arranged in an external packaging case 20 in a stable state. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This plate member transporting box A comprises at least an external packaging case 20 and a pair of right and left foamed resin pads 30, 30 arranged within the external packaging case, wherein the foamed resin pads 30 are constituted by a bottom pad 40 and side surface pads 50 that can be engaged with the bottom pad 40 under their vertical attitudes, and the side surface pads 50 are of a U-formed shape having the right and left side walls 51 and rear surface walls 52 in a horizontal section.
