FIBROUS MASS BEARING CATALYST, PROCESS FOR PRODUCING THE SAME, AND PURIFIER FOR DISCHARGE GAS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fibrous mass bearing catalyst by which a function as a filter utilizing a catalyst is sufficiently obtained, and to provide a process for producing the same, and to provide a purifier for discharge gas by using the fibrous mass.

SOLUTION: The fibrous mass bearing catalyst comprises a catalyst component layer including an oxygen-absorbing/releasing material on the surface of a fibrous mass of inorganic fibers. The catalyst component layer has a thickness of ≤20% of the average fiber diameter of the inorganic fibers. The process comprises providing the catalyst component layer including an oxygen-absorbing/releasing material on the surface of the fibrous mass composed of the inorganic fibers so that the thickness of the catalyst component layer has a thickness of ≤20% of the average fiber diameter of the inorganic fibers. The process comprises a step in which a material for catalyst component layer formation comprising a sol of the oxygen-absorbing/releasing material is deposited on the fibrous mass composed of inorganic fibers and a step in which the fibrous mass is burned.
