<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pressure control valve capable of downsizing its valve main body wherein its manufacturing cost is low and adjustment of pressure control characteristics and the like is easy. <P>SOLUTION: The pressure control valve 1 consists of the valve main body 2 having a valve chamber 2a in it, a valve seat 2d provided in the valve chamber, a valve element 3 moving close to and away from the valve seat, and a disc spring 11 for energizing the valve element toward the valve seat wherein the valve element moves away from the valve seat when a force working in a direction for moving the valve body away from the valve seat by pressure in the valve chamber exceeds an elastic force of the disc spring. By using the disc spring, a dimension of the valve main body in a valve element movement direction is reduced and the size of the valve main body can be reduced. As it is possible to use the disc spring as a general-purpose part, the manufacturing cost can be reduced. The disc spring is preferable for vapor compression refrigeration cycle for circulating a high-pressure refrigerant. A plurality of coil springs can be laminated.
