[Class 17 (ii).] Relates to the method of making shoe uppers or vamps described in Specificaton 309,554, [Class 17 (ii), Boots and shoes, Construction of], in which one or more strips or thongs of leather or other material is threaded through a series of perforations in a support or base member of skin, leather, canvas, or other material. According to the invention, the perforations b are arranged in spaced horizontal rows with the holes of alternate rows in line with those of other horizontal rows. A strip or strips e is threaded through one hole, through the adjacent hole of the same row, and then through the corresponding hole in a succeeding row, and so on. This arrangement may be duplicated in the reverse direction in the same or a different colour. The holes may be round, square, or other shape, and a backing of leather or other material may be secured to the support or base member a by the strip or strips e. |
