<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiency perform narrow down search in searching a tabular database. Ž<P>SOLUTION: (a) When items to be used for narrow down search are selected from a tabular database to be searched, kinds of values and the number of data for each value are displayed for each of the selected items. (b) When one item and the value thereof among the selected items are specified, data having the specified item value are extracted from the database.
