PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of preventing a foreign matter from jumping into a cold rolling mill, by which defective surface quality of a cold-rolled steel sheet caused by the jumping-in of the foreign matter is prevented. SOLUTION: When rolling a steel sheet by using the cold rolling mill provided with an exhaust apparatus, a member made of a net having the prescribed mesh is arranged so as to cover or enclose the opening part of the exhaust apparatus. In this way, the jumping-in of the foreign matter into the cold rolling mill is prevented. The member made of the net can be arranged so as to cover the whole exhaust apparatus instead of covering the opening part of the exhaust apparatus.
