<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air bag mounting structure capable of reducing cost by reducing man-hours for manufacturing while retaining an attachment property of an air bag unit. <P>SOLUTION: The air bag mounting structure 1 is provided with an air bag retainer 4 integrally molded relative to the structure on a back surface of an instrument panel 3. The air bag retainer 4 has an upper plate 5a, a lower plate 5b, a left side surface plate 5c and a right side surface plate 5d formed with clearances therebetween.
