<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for cleaning an exhaust gas in which a HC adsorption layer hardly rise in a temperature even the HC is heated by oxidation in a ternary catalyst layer and which suppresses the exhaust of the HC at the start of an engine from a cold state. <P>SOLUTION: In an HC trap catalyst installed in the exhaust passage of the internal combustion engine, and forming the HC adsorption layer 6 adsorbing non-combustion fuel onto a carrier 5 and the ternary catalyst layer 7 eliminating non-combustion fuel by oxidation, the HC adsorption layer 6 is formed by stacking HC adsorbed bodies 10 of particle shapes having hollow spaces and the ternary catalyst layer 7 is formed on the surface of the HC adsorption layer 6. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
