<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pressure control method and device for an automatic transmission, enabling to control a pressure to be after-completing-shift target pressure when synchro-starting a shifting gear without being influenced by select operation or shift operation. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The pressure control method for the automatic transmission has: a hydraulic circuit pressure control step S110 of controlling a master flow control valve 41 to engage and disengage, with and from the hydraulic circuit 6, one of a high pressure source 51 which can output controlled pressure oil to a hydraulic circuit 6 and a low pressure source 52 which can discharge the controlled pressure oil from the hydraulic circuit 6, so that the controlled pressure oil flows into/out of the hydraulic circuit 6 to control pressure in the hydraulic pressure to be before-completing-shift target pressure PO; an oil amount comparing step S170 of comparing a consumed oil amount as the sum of a select stroke consumed oil amount f(X) and a shift stroke consumed oil amount f(Y) with a controlled pressure oil amount f(Z); and a pressure control starting step S180 for starting the control of a pressure in the hydraulic circuit 6 to be after-completing-shift target pressure P1 when the consumed oil amount is the controlled pressure oil amount f(Z) or smaller.
